Florence Harrison

Florence Harrison (1877–1955) was an Art Nouveau and Pre-Raphaelite illustrator of poetry and children's books. Many of her books were published by Blackie and Sons. She illustrated books by notable Pre-Raphaelite circle poets Christina Rossetti, William Morris and Sir Alfred Tennyson. She has been previously known by name Emma Florence Harrison, although there is some dispute that this was correct. The works previously attributed to Emma may actually be by Florence Susan Harrison who was Australian.[1]

I have extensively researched both Emma Florence Harrison and Florence Susan Harrison and have written several books about her. The Blackie artist was most definitely Florence Susan Harrison who was English. Many of her relatives moved to Australia [including a niece and great niece who had received letters and artwork from Florence and whom I have met), but Florence lived and died in England. My books concerning Florence and her family include these titles: 1) *"Florence Harrison: A Case of Mistaken Identity*" (biographies of Emma Florence Harrison and Florence Susan Harrison); 2)*" The Magical World of Florence Harrison*" 3) *"Fair Winds and a Following Sea*" (Life and Times of master mariner Norwood Harrison who was Florence's father); 4) *"Folkestone's Rockhill House School*" (a girl's school run by Florence's aunt and mother); 5) *"Catalog of florence Harrison's color Illustrations*"; 6) *"The Art & Poetry of Florence Harrison: A Pictorial Bibliography*".
