Fjell Church (Norwegian: Fjell kyrkje) is a parish church in Fjell municipality in Hordaland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Fjell on the island of Sotra. The church is part of the Fjell parish in the Vesthordland deanery in the Diocese of Bjørgvin.[1][2]

History

The first church at Fjell was in existence in the Middle Ages. It was probably a stave church. That church was torn down and replaced with a wooden church in the 1600s. In 1871, the parish decided that the present church was too small and it needed to replace that church. The old church was torn down and a new church was built in 1874 using designs by the architect Conrad Fredrik von der Lippe. The new church was built of wood and it seats about 700 people.[3]
