First Choice Emergency Room is a Flower Mound, Texas-based company that operates freestanding emergency rooms in Texas and Colorado.[2][3] It is the largest and oldest such provider in the US.[4] First Choice was founded by Jack Novak in 2002.

Inc. Magazine ranked First Choice as one of the fastest growing businesses in the U.S. in 2010, 2011, and 2012 under CEO and founder, Novak.[3] In 2012, Sterling Partners, invested $59 million in the business.[5] First Choice generated $98.5 million in revenue in 2012, up from $41.3 million in 2009.[3] The company has 52 locations.[6][7]

First Choice Emergency Room is owned and operated by Adeptus Health.[8] In May 2016, Adeptus Health reached an agreement with Texas Health Resources to align its First Choice Emergency Room locations and rebrand most of its Texas locations as Texas Health Facilities.[9] In August 2016, Adeptus reached a similar agreement with Mount Carmel Health System in Ohio.[10]
