The Financial Planning Stardards Council (FPSC) is a non-profit Canadian professional standards-setting and certification body working in personal financial planning.

FPSC ensures those it certifies (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professionals and FPSC Level 1® Certificants in Financial Planning) meet appropriate standards of competence and professionalism through rigorous requirements of education, examination, experience and ethics.

Since incorporation in 1995, FPSC has become the premier standards-setter for financial planning in Canada, elevating the standards of the CFP® designation and establishing CFP certification as the standard for financial planners. The timeline FPSC achieve his purpose by:

Mandate

FPSC's mandate is:

ensuring appropriate education of prospective and existing financial planning professionals;
promoting FPSC and CFP brands as synonymous with the financial planning profession.

Regulation

The FPSC "standards of professional responsibility" encompass four sets of standards:

FPSC Code of Ethics,
FPSC Rules of Conduct,
FPSC Fitness Standards,
FPSC Financial Planning Practice Standards.
