Ferrocarriles Unidos de Yucatán

Ferrocarriles Unidos de Yucatán was a 3 ft (914 mm) narrow gauge[1] railroad that operated in the state of Yucatán in Mexico. The last two 4-4-0 steam locomotives (No. 80 and No. 81) built by Baldwin Locomotive Works were made for this railroad in 1946.[2] Locals referred to its locomotives as toros de fuegos (English: bulls of fire).[3][4]

Disney connection

Five of this railroad's steam locomotives were bought by Roger Broggie on behalf of the The Walt Disney Company in 1969.[3] Four of these were completely rebuilt and are currently operating on the Walt Disney World Railroad.[3] The fifth engine, which was deemed to be in too poor condition for operation, was sold off and is presumed to have been scrapped.[5]
