History

The UFRA has marked its origin in the School of Agronomy of Amazon, created in 1945, which was born with the purpose of preparing agronomists of the North of Brazil, It started operating in 1951, and already in the 1960 consolidated as a training institution for Human Resources in Agricultural Sciences.

It has had a vocation to promote exchanges, being the first university institution to practice expanding its area of operation. The School began to receive students from other Latin American countries like Venezuela, Honduras, Peru and Colombia.

In 1972 the School of Agronomy Amazon was called Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Pará (FCAP) in order to better meet the demand for training human resources in the Amazon. In 1974, FCAP was created in the first veterinary hospital in the northern region.

After five decades of history, in 2002, the decree that transformed the FCAP in Federal Rural University of Amazonia was signed. And from then UFRA has been growing and expanding their areas of expertise.

Currently the institution offers undergraduate courses in Management, Agronomy, Biology, Accounting, Computer Science, Agricultural Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Renewable Energies, Cartographic Engineering and Surveying, Fishing Engineering, Production Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Computer Science, Literature – Sign Language, Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science and Information Systems.

In addition to the 16 courses, UFRA has graduate Programs in the areas of Agricultural Sciences, Tropical Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources, Forestry Sciences, Animal Production and Health, Life Sciences, Applied to Agricultural Biotechnology.The UFRA headquarters is located in Belém - PA, on the river Guamá, and also has five campuses in the state, they are: Paragominas, Paraupebas, Capitão Poço, Capanema and Tomé-Açu.

About the Office of International Cooperation and Inter-Institutional (ACII)

The International Cooperation of the Federal Rural University of Amazonia is one of the administrative units that comprise the Dean of the institution, in accordance with the General Rules:

"INSTITUTIONAL ADVISORY AND INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION - has the authority to coordinate with agencies in the country and abroad, to establish mechanisms for mutual cooperation with the University, with a view to developing projects and partnerships in the field of education, research and extension. "

This Advisory was created with the purpose of establishing a representation for international affairs within the University, as well as focus the work on the existing institution in interagency and international partnerships.

In recent years the ACII has gained greater importance because of the growing internationalization process that has been going Brazilian universities, as well as the recognition of large gains obtained through exchanges with universities and research institutions abroad.

Purpose

The purpose of the Interagency Advisory and International Cooperation is to promote closer relations between the UFRA and other institutions for research and teaching, both national and international, to produce cutting-edge knowledge, and improve the training of our teachers, students and administrative technicians.

Activities

Guidance, Conduct and monitoring of cooperation documents signed between UFRA and national and international institutions; Service to students, teachers and researchers from other international institutions interested in studying, conducting research or other activities in the academic-scientific character UFRA;

Disseminate international academic opportunities with the university community;

Lead the process of internationalization in UFRA as institutional growth and qualification of the academic activities strategy.
