Fawcett is a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada within Westlock County.[1] It is located on Highway 44, approximately 118 kilometres (73 mi) northwest of Edmonton.

The community has the name of a railroad officer.[2]

Demographics

As a designated place in the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Fawcett recorded a population of 69 living in 31 of its 37 total private dwellings, a change of −5.5% from its 2011 population of 73. With a land area of 0.45 km2 (0.17 sq mi), it had a population density of 153.3/km2 (397.1/sq mi) in 2016.[3]

As a designated place in the 2011 Census, Fawcett had a population of 73 living in 27 of its 30 total dwellings, a -7.6% change from its 2006 population of 79. With a land area of 0.49 km2 (0.19 sq mi), it had a population density of 149.0/km2 (386/sq mi) in 2011.[4]

Notable residentis

Fawcett is the hometown of professional hockey player and actor Ross Smith. Ross portrayed the character Barclay Donaldson in the 1977 movie Slap Shot.
