Fabio Mechetti

Fabio Mechetti is a Brazilian-born conductor. He has worked as music director of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra from 1999-2014. He has also served as Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizontes, Music Director of the Spokane Symphony Orchestra from 1993 to 2004 and conductor of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra.[1]

Career

He won the 1989 Malko International Conducting Competition in Denmark. He has Master's degrees in conducting and composition from the Juilliard School of Music.[1]

As music director of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra from 1999-2014, he provided "solid artistic leadership".[2] With the conclusion of his tenure with Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra, Mechetti was appointed principal conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra starting from August 2014. [3] In 2008 Mechetti was appointed Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Orquestra Filarmônica de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte. He was Music Director of the Spokane Symphony Orchestra from 1993 to 2004. He was the conductor of the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra for ten seasons.[1]

He has guest-conducted the Seattle Symphony, Pacific Symphony Orchestra, Utah Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, Phoenix Symphony, Charlotte Symphony, and orchestras in Mexico, Spain, Brazil and Venezuela.[1]
