Ezri Konsa Ngoyo (born 23 October 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Charlton Athletic.

Club career

Charlton Athletic

Born in Waltham Forest, England, Konsa joined Charlton Athletic at the age of 12.[3] After progressing through the ranks of the youth team, Konsa signed his first professional contract with the club in December 2015.[4] Shortly after, Konso was called up to the first team and appeared as an unused substitute bench, in a 4-0 loss against Burnley on 19 December 2015.[5] He also appeared in another match as an unused substitute bench, in a 2-1 loss against Colchester United in the third round of FA Cup.[6]

In the 2016-17 season, Konsa was given number fifteen shirt ahead of a new season.[7] The next day on 6 August 2016, Konsa was on the bench for Charlton Athletic's first game of the 2015–16 season.[8] He made his debut three days later against Cheltenham Town in the League Cup, resulting Charlton Athletic losing 1-0.[9] After breaking into the Charlton first team at 18, Konsa's performances reportedly attracted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs.[10] Despite this, Konsa played the most of the season in the centre-back positions, though at times, he played in full back and central midfield.[11] In March 2017, he signed a contract extension, keeping him until 2020.[12] Despite being absent on two occasions in the 2016-17 season,[13], Konso was awarded the club's Young Player of the Year[14] and went on to make thirty-nine appearances in all competitions.

International career

On 16 March 2017, Konsa was called up to the England U20 squad, his first international call up.[15] However, he did not play, due to injury sustaining at training and withdrew from the squad as a result.[16]

Two months later, Konsa was selected to play for England in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup in South Korea.[17] In June 2017, Konsa made his debut in the semi-final win against Italy,[18] and was an unused substitute in the England team that won the U20 world cup, which is England's first world cup triumph since 1966.[19]
