Evdokia Pasko

Evdokia Pasko (30 December 1919 – 27 January 2017) was a Soviet military pilot in World War II.[1]

Pasko was born in Kyrgyzstan in 1919. She was a student in the Mathematics faculty at Moscow State University when the Russian authorities called for women volunteers to train as fighter pilots. Pasko became a pilot in the 49th Aviation Regiment, and in the all-women 46th Guards Night Bomber Aviation Regiment, also known as the Night Witches.[2] In total, she made approximately 800 sorties.[3] In 1944 Pasko was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.[4] She retired from the Soviet army with the rank of lieutenant.[1]

After the war Pasko returned to her studies and graduated with a PhD in mathematics. She taught for over forty years at Bauman Moscow State Technical University.[3]

Pasko died on 27 January 2017 in Moscow, and was buried at the Troyekurovskoye Cemetery.[5]
