Empower Retirement is a retirement plan record keeping company based in Denver, Colorado.[1] Part of Great-West Life & Annuity Insurance Company, it is an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of Great-West Lifeco.[2]
Empower is led by President Edmund F. Murphy III, who reports to Robert L. Reynolds, CEO and President of Great-West Financial.[3]
History
Empower was created in 2014 when Great-West Life combined the record keeping services of Great-West Financial, JPMorgan Chase, and Putnam Investments.[4]
In 2016, Empower was named the Retirement Leader of the Year at the Mutual Fund Industry Awards.[5]
Products and services
Empower serves employer-sponsored retirement plans, including all sizes of corporate 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans for non-profits, as well as government 457 plans. Empower also provides a private-label record keeping service.[6]
