Emma Johanna Laine (born 26 March 1986 in Karlstad, Sweden) is a Finnish tennis player.

Laine has won 11 singles and 41 doubles titles on the ITF tour in her career. On 7 August 2006, she reached her best singles ranking of world number 50. On 30 October 2006, she peaked at world number 64 in the doubles rankings.

Playing for Finland at the Fed Cup, Laine has a win–loss record of 48–20.

Biography

Coached by Olli Leppänen. Travels on Tour with her coach or her sister (and best friend) Essi Laine, who also plays professionally. Mother, Erika, was a swimmer, while father, Erkki Laine[1] Emma was born in Sweden because Erkki was playing there at the time. He died in 2009. Was an ice hockey player, winning an Olympic silver medal at 1988 Winter Olympics. Introduced to tennis at age 5 by her parents; baseliner who prefers hardcourts. Favorite places to visit are Melbourne and Stockholm. Speaks Finnish, Swedish, English. Favorite movies are Troy, Titanic. Favorite food is pasta. Tennis person most admired is Andre Agassi for his good attitude on and off the court. Favorite thing about being a pro tennis player is travelling and seeing different countries, cultures and people. Likes many sports, in particular ice hockey. Goal is to improve her tennis and ranking.
