Emilio Álvarez Icaza
Emilio Álvarez Icaza Longoria is a Mexican human rights ombudsman who serves, since 19 July 2012, as Executive Secretary of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR, in Spanish CIDH);[1][2] an autonomous organ of the Organization of American States (OAS) that promotes and protects human rights in the Western Hemisphere.
Álvarez Icaza is also a professor at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), and a member of the Movement for Peace with Justice and Dignity, who were organizers of the main protests during the October 15th Movement.[3]
