Elia Petridis

Elia Petridis is an American director and screenwriter, best known for The Man Who Shook the Hand of Vicente Fernandez (2012), How Henri Came to Stay[1] (2006) and the virtual reality experience Eye for an Eye: A Séance in VR[2] (2016). The former features Academy Award Winner Ernest Borgnine and also stars fellow Academy nominee June Squibb. It was Borgnine's final film before his death.

Education

Petridis holds a Bachelor in Critical Studies and an MFA in Film/Television Production from the University of Southern California.

Career

Petridis has been a featured presenter at VR initiatives and events in Los Angeles and around the world. He produced Comic-Con’s first ever panel on diversity in virtual reality in 2016[3], which welcomed 300 attendees and generated hundreds of thousands of media impressions[4].

Philosophy

An advocate of transmedia and storytelling across multiple artistic mediums[5], Petridis has worked with artists including Jesca Hoop to create original music for his Eye for an Eye universe. The song with Hoop debuted on KCRW in Los Angeles.[6]
