Season chronology

The first season of the reality show El Gran Show in Peru began on April 30, 2016.[1]

For this annual edition, the "11" palette was reintroduced, last applied in 2013 show kings. Also, the VIP Jury returned, no longer being formed by the public, but by a person belonging to the artistic medium granting them or not To the couples one or two extra points, for this reason the scores in this years were on a scale of 46 points. In addition, the "Lifeguard" was once again integrated.

This season was also the first to introduce a new segment called "Partner Switch-Up", where each of the celebrities had to leave their original partner and dance with a new professional dancer for a week. This segment is very similar to the "Switch-Up" segment that occurred since the season 18 of Dancing with the Stars. Apart from that in this segment, the program presented for the first time in its entire history the "same-sex dance".

On July 23, 2016, Milett Figueroa and his professional dancer Patricio Quiñones were crowned champions,[2] Fiorella Cayo and Jimy Garcia finished second, while Christian Dominguez and Isabel Acevedo finished third.

Cast

Couples

This season 12 celebrities were summoned. On April 28, Melissa Klug (who highlighted her popularity in the media for being the ex-wife of footballer Jefferson Farfán) was officially confirmed as the first heroine of this season through a television spot.[3] The rest of the contestants were presented during the first week, on Saturday, April 30th, but the competition officially opened on May 7, featuring also the professional dancers who accompanied the celebrities.[4] The four dancers who returned from past seasons were Diego Alza (from season 1 of 2010), Isabel Acevedo (season 1 of 2011), José Morello (season 1 of 2012) and Patricio Quiñones (season 2 of 2015), the rest of professional dancers are new to the program.

During the season two heroines, Melissa Klug and Dorita Orbegoso, asked the production to change dancer because they were not satisfied with their performance, being the first time in the history of the program that this happens. This is the first season since the Special edition, in having five finalist pairs instead of four.

Week 10: Semifinals

The couples performed an unlearned dance and an impromptu dance that included five different styles of dance, all rehearsed during the week by couples and only one chosen by a draw on the live show, which couples performed.

Due to labor reasons, Luigi Carbajal could not be present at the gala, so his dance in the first round was recorded the day before the program so the jury can evaluate it. Then in the improvised dance round, Thiago Cunha danced in his place along with Thati Lira.
