Eisenberg's Sandwich Shop is a restaurant located on Fifth Avenue in the Flatiron District of Manhattan, New York City. The establishment which has been open continuously since 1929 known for its long lunch counter, ample sandwiches and egg creams and virgin lime rickeys available upon demand. Opened in 1929 by Monus Eisenberg and passed onto his children today Eisenberg's is owned by former printing business entrepreneur Josh Konecky who purchased from the previous proprietor Steve Oh.[1][2]

History

Eisenberg's was opened in 1929 by Monus Esineberg and his son Elias on what was then Ladies' Mile. Ownership of the establishment was subsequently passed onto Elias and his two siblings Barrett and Sylvia.[3] The eatery is also known for its "Hawaiian room" dedicated to its long time counterman Phil who was known for his cantankerous demeanor.[4][5]

Many notable people have dined at Eisenberg's over the years, including; Jeff Goldblum, Martha Plimpton, Benjamin Walker, Mark J. Green, Dennis Christopher, Steven Van Zandt, Jill Hennessey, Joshua Bell, Cynthia Nixon, Jackie Mason, Bono, Anthony Bourdain and Philip Seymour Hoffman.[6]
