Eduardo Pitta (born August 9, 1949) is a Portuguese poet, fiction writer and essayist.

Bio and work

Born in Lourenço Marques, now Maputo, on August 9, 1949, he lived in Mozambique until 1975. He had published ten books of poetry. A large selection of that corpus of poems was collected in Desobediência, 2011. It is represented in several anthologies of contemporary Portuguese poetry. A significant number of his essays and critical writings have been collected in six volumes. In 2013 published a memoir, Um Rapaz a Arder. His poetry and prose have appeared in various magazines and anthologies in Portugal, Spain, France, Brasil, Colombia, England, Israel, USA and, in his early years (1968–1975), in Mozambique. Now he writes literary criticism at the Portuguese magazine Sábado.

Personal life

Pitta was legally married in 2010 with Jorge Neves, his partner since 1972.
