Edouard Aleata

Edouard Aleata, commonly called Eddie, was a fictional character on the now-cancelled American soap opera Love of Life. He was played by actor John Aniston.

Eddie was one of Meg Dale's husbands. He had been married to her, before she had returned to the fictional community of Rosehill, New York. It was during the time she had been out of touch with her family, after trying to foist a paternity suit on a lawyer she had dated in New York City.

A continental and cultured Latin man, Eddie was also very suave. He was the only real father that Caroline Aleata had ever known, as he pointedly told his ex-wife in an episode in 1975. Eddie had arrived in Rosehill at the request of his former sister in-law, Van. Cal had been raped by her mother's despicable husband, Jeff Hart, and had discovered that her friend Rick Latimer had been dating Meg. Cal had been so angry at both that she drove her car off an embankment. He came to help give his stepdaughter the love that she so desperately needed.

Eddie had also met Felicia Lamont (Pamela Lincoln), who was Van's next door neighbor (she was married to Bruce's friend, Charles Lamont). They had an affair, which unnerved Charles. Charles was later shot and Felicia had been taking care of him as his nurse. Later, Felicia died.

Not long after Felicia's death, he later met a female attorney named Dory Patten (played by John Aniston's second wife, Sherry Rooney) and he and Dory left Rosehill together.
