EdgeCast Networks is a Los Angeles, CA, based content delivery network (CDN). The company was founded in 2006 and was funded by the venture arm of The Walt Disney Company, Steamboat Ventures.[2][3] The company is notable for its self-provisioning CDN technology used by the telecommunication and hosting industries.[4][5][6] EdgeCast Networks was rated the No. 3 CDN in the industry by the Yankee Group in August 2009,[7] and turned EBITA positive in Q2 of 2009.[8] EdgeCast Networks was ranked 13th on the Deloitte Fast 500 list for North America 2012.[9]

On December 9, 2013 The Verizon and EdgeCast boards of directors approved Verizon's acquisition of EdgeCast and the deal was closed on December 23, 2013.[10][11]
