History

Eastern High School is the only high school in the Eastern Local School District. The district was formed as a combination of the Stockdale, Union, and Beaver Schools in 1962, following a vote by the Pike County Board of Education on October 5, 1959. While the school sits in Pike County, it serves residents in Scioto, Ross, and Jackson counties as well. The original high school was constructed on Tile Mill Road, near the intersection at Beaver Pike. In 1997, a bond issue was approved by the voters of the district to construct a new, all-inclusive campus for all 4 school buildings. The existing high school was razed, and the current building sits in its spot. The high school and middle school are located on the far south side of the campus, and was opened for the 2002-03 school year.
