Douglas M. "Doug" Leone (born 1957) is an American venture capitalist.

Life

Leone emigrated from Italy with his family aged 11, and they settled in Mount Vernon, New York.[2] Leone earned a BS in mechanical engineering from Cornell University in 1979,[3] an MS in industrial engineering from Columbia University in 1986,[4] and an MS in management from the MIT Sloan School of Management in 1988.[5] [2]

Prior to 1988, he worked at Sun Microsystems, Hewlett-Packard, and Prime Computer in sales and sales management positions.

Leone joined Sequoia Capital in 1988, became a managing partner in 1996[6], and the global managing partner in 2012.[7] He was ranked in the top 10 investors in the United States by Forbes Magazine.[8] He led Sequoia's international expansion into China and India.[9]

He was responsible for investments including ServiceNow, Aruba, Meraki, Rackspace, Netezza, Arbor/Hyperion, RingCentral and MedExpress. He sits on the board of PlanGrid, NuBank, Medallia, ZirMed, ActionIQ, Numerify, and Lattice Engines.[10] On the Forbes 2016 list of billionaires, he was ranked #722 with a net worth of US$ 2.4 billion.[1]

Leone is married to Patti Leone and the father of four children.
