Born in Asuncion, his parents were Leonardo Gribeo, a conquistador born in Italy, and Isabel Martín, daughter of Manuel Martin.[3] Domingo Gribeo married to María, daughter of Rodrigo de Esterlín and Juana de Solórzano, and belonging to a family of conquerors, including his paternal and maternal grandparents Arnao Esterlin and Zoilo de Solórzano, who was born in the Islas Canarias.[4]
