Diskono
Diskono is an independent record label and anonymous group of artists that were based throughout Scotland. Continuing a Scottish presence, particularly in non disclosed areas of east-central somewhere around the Forth Estuary and Tay Estuary, they are also rumored to operate from Belgium, France, and the United States of America. Diskono, and its offshoot imprint Penthouse Hotplate, has nurtured divergent forms of electronica to all manner of post rock and indie; downtempo breaks to minimal techno; sparse piano compositions to abstract explosive noise and angular punk pop. Perhaps best known for the discovery of artists such as Felix Kubin, Janek Schaefer and Phenomenological Boys, as well as being instrumental in the pretentious de-construction of acid house and rave music, they were the first and only ever Scottish artists to be awarded a major Scottish Arts Council grant from submission under pseudonym with the subsequent exhibition, Revisionland with Alejandra and Aeron going on to win the 2002 Prix Ars Electronica award in Linz, Austria. Currently, Diskono are observing the re-emergence of Jan Van Den Dobbelsteen.
