Disha Vakani (born 17 August 1978)[1] is an Indian film and television actress. She made her career as a stage actress in Gujarati plays like Kamal Patel v/s Dhamal Patel and Lali Lila.[5] She has appeared in supporting roles in films like Devdas (2002) and Jodha Akbar (2008).[6] She plays lead role of Daya Jethalal Gada in SAB TV's comedy show Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah since 2008.[7][8][9]

Personal life

Disha Vakani was born in a Gujarati family in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Disha graduated in the Dramatic arts from Gujarat College in Ahmedabad.[5] She married a Mumbai-based chartered accountant named Mayur Padia on 24 November 2015.[10][2] Her brother Mayur Vakani also plays her on-screen brother Sundar in television serial Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. She is 6 months pregnant. But rumours say she'll take maternity leave.
