Dimmick is an unincorporated community located 4 miles (6.4 km) northeast of Peru in Dimmick Township in LaSalle County. Though on maps it is located on N. 35th Road at the location of the former Dimmick Catholic Church, it is more commonly thought of as the area surrounding the Dimmick Grade School. In recent years, it has increased in population, with the construction of the small "Dimmick Fields" subdivision.
History
A post office was established at Dimmick in 1850, and remained in operation until 1912.[2] The community was named for J. "Squire" Dimmick, an early settler.[3] The railroad was extended to Dimmick ca. 1875.[4]
