Digimind is a global social media monitoring and competitive intelligence company that provides information on businesses' competitive standing in the market.[1] Digimind was founded in 1998 and has been profitable ever since. As of 2014, the company has more than 100 employees across offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Africa.

History

Digimind was founded in 1998 by Paul Vivant, Patrice François, Gerald Navarette and Romain Laboisse in Grenoble, France. Within a year, they launched vStrat, a collaborative market intelligence software tool for Lotus Notes (now IBM Notes). This was followed by the release of Strategic Finder, a meta search engine, in 1999.[2] By the end of 1999, the software had reached over 60,000 users.

In 2003 [3] the company launched Digimind Evolution, a fully integrated competitive intelligence software application. The company's subsequent success and expansion in both French- and English-speaking markets facilitated the opening of a Research & Development centre in Rabat, Morocco in 2006, and an office in Cambridge, MA in 2008. In 2007, Digimind launched Digimind 7, an application providing real-time visual analysis of news stories.

In 2012 Digimind launched WhoGotFunded.com,[4] a website designed to track global developments and trends in venture capital. Able to update itself every minute, WhoGotFunded provides its users with the latest information on high potential start-ups, venture capital firms and VC transactions around the world.[5]

The launch of Digimind Social [6] in 2013 saw the company's first major foray into the field of social media monitoring with a custom-built platform for the real-time discovery and analysis of online presence, reach, trends and influence.

Digimind Intelligence

Digimind's competitive intelligence suite is in its tenth incarnation. Previously known by its version number, the software is now known as Digimind Intelligence. Angled at corporate clients, it provides in-depth competitive intelligence in clients' respective markets. [7] Amongst other things, the software is designed to monitor competitors, news trends, technologies and regulatory changes on a daily basis. Key features include automatic search, extraction and categorization of Big Data, real-time trend analysis and an integrated collaboration platform for end users.

Digimind Social

Digimind Social, launched in 2013, is a tailored social media monitoring (SMM) tool. The software calculates influence score for Tweets, Blogs, Articles, Videos and other social media posts using a number of suitable metrics and bespoke algorithms. Targeted at both large and small businesses, it is considerably less expensive than the flagship software suite. Users can compare campaigns, brands, trends, competitors or influencers and create custom 'tags' to measure consumer sentiment and analyse data points. It allows users to automatically generate reports using native or custom templates. [8]

Awards and achievements

In 2003 Digimind was awarded the prestigious European IST Prize, and from 2005 to 2008 Digimind was ranked among the 500 fastest-growing technology companies in Europe by the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 EMEA.[9][10] This was followed by an SIIA CODiE award for workflow integration, awarded to Digimind and its partners in 2010.[11]
