Richard E. "Dick" Albert (February 29, 1944 – August 4, 2017) was the co-chief meteorologist on WCVB-TV in Boston, Massachusetts, along with Harvey Leonard. He was with the station from 1978 to 2009, delivering the evening and nighttime forecasts. He presented the 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. weather reports on NewsCenter 5, while Leonard worked on the 5:30 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts.
On February 4, 2009, Albert announced his retirement. His final forecast was on February 26.[1]
In late 2010, he contributed to the book Extreme New England Weather, written by Josh Judge, with his thoughts on "The Perfect Storm" of 1991.[2]
On August 4, 2017, Albert died at the age of 73 following complications due to pneumonia.[3]
Career before WCVB
A native of Newton, Massachusetts, Albert studied at University of Michigan and worked in Denver and at KRON-TV in San Francisco. He also served as an Air Force weatherman.[3]
Personal
Albert lived in Boston with his wife, Mary Ann. They had two sons.[4]
