Dhiraj Rajaram

Dhiraj C Rajaram is the founder and chairman of Mu Sigma Inc,[1] an Indian multinational data analytics company.[2]

Early years

Rajaram was born in 1975 Chennai, India and brought up in Bengaluru, India. He was raised by his grandparents. Rajaram completed his bachelor’s degree in Electrical engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, M.S. in computer engineering from Wayne State University Michigan and MBA from Booth School of Business University of Chicago.[3] After completing his education, Rajaram worked as a management consultant at Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) in the US and Booz Allen Hamilton India.[4]

Mu Sigma

After quitting his job from Booz Allen Hamilton India,[5] Rajaram started data analytics company Mu Sigma Inc. in Bengaluru, Karnataka, 2004.[6]

Awards and recognition

Rajaram was named to Fortune Magazine's list of 40 under 40 in 2013[7] and won The Economic Times "Entrepreneur of Year" award in 2014.[8]

Family

Raja married his engineering college friend Ambiga who is part of his business Mu Sigma as CEO(since 2016). They currently live in Bengaluru with their son named Akash. Recently they announced their split [9][10]

Controversies

He has been recently sued by Patrick Ryan for deliberately misquoting prospective growth of his firm, Mu Sigma Inc. Rajaram allegedly did this when he was trying to buy back Mu Sigma shares obtained by Ryan in lieu of investments made by Ryan in the then fledgling data analytics firm.[11]
