Deo Vindice

Deo vindice, meaning (With) God (as our) defender/protector or literally la:Deo vindice (God, defender/protector) was the national motto of the Confederate States.[note 1] It appeared on the margin beneath the device of the Seal of the Confederate States.[1][2]
