Deadline Music is a record sub-label wholly owned and operated by Cleopatra Records, Inc. The sub-label was founded at the turn of the century just as a revival of 1980s Glam/Hair Metal exploded with brand new albums from such well-known acts as Quiet Riot, White Lion, Warrant, Cinderella, Poison’s Bret Michaels and L.A. Guns. In addition, the label produced a series of best-selling compilations including This Is Hair Metal, More ‘80s Hair Metal and the box set Hollywood Rocks!
Recently, the label was responsible for releasing the controversial 13th album by metal legends Queensrÿche in April 2013. The band had just split into two factions with founding vocalist/frontman Geoff Tate leading an all-new group of musicians while the remaining members carried on with a new vocalist. Dubbed “The Heaviest Rÿche Ever,” Tate’s version of the band included longtime QR guitarist Kelly Gray plus Quiet Riot bassist Rudy Sarzo and legendary AC/DC / Dio drummer Simon Wright. This group quickly recorded and released Frequency Unknown, which earned a significant amount of both praise and opprobrium from critics and fans alike.
Los Angeles hard-rockers Bulletboys also released a new album on Deadline, Elefanté, which hit the streets in 2015 and earned the band some of the highest acclaim of their illustrious career.
In 2014, Deadline teamed with Canadian metal god Thor, an icon of 1980s power metal, for deluxe edition reissues of his seminal early albums on both CD and vinyl, including 1985’s Only The Strong, 1982’s Lighting Strikes Again, and the classic 1977 debut album Keep The Dogs Away. Thor’s first album of new material for Deadline arrived in 2016, Metal Avenger, which featured guest appearances by Henry Rollins, Fast Eddie Clarke, Cheetah Chrome, Jay Jay French, and others. His second new album for the label is set to appear in late 2017.
In 2016, Deadline released a 3-CD deluxe box set from 1980s superstars Twisted Sister, consisting of previously unreleased live performances from the band’s early days.
