Dartfishes are a subfamily, Ptereleotrinae, of goby-like fishes in the family Microdesmidae of the order Perciformes.[2] They are saltwater fish.
The dartfishes were briefly raised to family status, but have now been re-incorporated into the family Microdesmidae as a subfamily.[2]
