Dario Đumić (born 30 January 1992) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a centre back for Dutch club Utrecht and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
Club career
Đumić started his career in the Roskilde-based club Himmelev-Veddelev.[1]
Đumić joined the Norwich City's academy at the start of the 2008–09 season, having previously been with Hvidovre.[2] On 22 June 2008, Đumić signed a professional contract with Norwich City.[3] He would be involved in a number of the club's pre-season friendlies in the lead up to the 2009–10 season, making his first-team debut for Norwich on 10 November 2009 in Football League Trophy away game against Swindon Town which Norwich won on penalties.[4]
On 14 January 2010, he moved back to Denmark, signing with Brøndby.[5] He made his debut for Brøndby on 23 August 2011 in an away win against Silkeborg.[6]
In January 2016 he moved to Dutch club NEC on loan until the end of the season, with option to make it permanent.[7] Đumić debuted for NEC on 22 January 2016 against Groningen.[8] In February, the deal was made permanent, until June 2019.[9][10] He scored his first goal for NEC against Vitesse on 3 March 2016.[11]
On 10 July 2017 Đumić signed a four-year contract with fellow Dutch club Utrecht for an undisclosed fee.[12][13]
International career
Đumić played for all youth selections of Denmark, except senior. However, he openly expressed his wish to play for Bosnia and Herzegovina[14] on many occasions,[15] even for a Danish sport channel,[16] which became a real possibility as Bosnian new national team coach, Mehmed Baždarević, admittedly expressing great interest for the young defender, and even planned to visit Denmark, to watch Dario play and to speak with him face-to-face.[17]
He made his senior debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina on 28 March 2017, in a 2–1 friendly win over Albania.[18]
