Dane Baptiste

Dane Baptiste is British stand-up comedian and writer. He was nominated for the "Best Newcomer" at 2014's Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards and his comedy series Sunny D premiered on BBC Three in Spring 2016.[1]

Career

Baptiste is from Hither Green,[2] South East London.[3] He was nominated for the 2014 "Best Newcomer" Edinburgh Comedy Award,[4] becoming the first black Briton to be nominated. He was also nominated for a Chortle award in 2015.[2] He has also made appearances on Sweat the Small Stuff,[5] Virtually Famous,[6] Celebrity Squares,[7] Safeword,[8] Live at the Apollo,[9] Live from the BBC,[10] Tonight at the London Palladium,[11] Alan Davies: As Yet Untitled,[12] Mock the Week,[13], The Gaffer Tapes: Fantasy Football Podcast,[14] and 8 Out of 10 Cats.[15]

In 2016, BBC Three commissioned Sunny D, a sitcom that Baptiste wrote and starred in where he plays a Dane who still lives with his parents and twin sister Kadean in a crammed house that he is desperate to escape.[16]
