Dance Dance Revolution Konamix, also known as DDR Konamix or simply Konamix for short, is a music video game in the Dance Dance Revolution series of games by Konami. It was released on April 25, 2002 for the Sony PlayStation in the United States and Canada as the third DDR console game in those countries and the last game released in North America for the system. DDR Konamix contains 52 tracks and six courses consisting entirely of "Konami Originals" produced by Konami's in-house music staff.

Dance Dance Revolution was released for Microsoft Windows computers on May 24, 2002.[2] The game used the engine and interface from 4thMix and Konamix, and like Konamix, it only includes Konami original songs. However, the song count in the Windows version is reduced to 40 songs, of which 21 are unavailable in Konamix.

Dancing Stage Party Edition is a home video game in the Dancing Stage series, the European counterpart to Konamix. It was released in 2002 by Konami, as part of their family-oriented Bemani series. DS Party Edition contains 51 tracks consisting of 46 "Konami Originals" produced by Konami's in-house music staff and five exclusive new licenses.

Gameplay

Music

All of the songs featured in Dance Dance Revolution Konamix are from previous releases in the series with the exception of "AM-3P (303 Bass Mix)", a remixed of the classic original from Dance Dance Revolution 2ndMix.[1][3] Some songs have been re-recorded and renamed to remove content that could be perceived as explicit or racist. For example, the English lyrics removed from "After the Game" (Changed from "After the Game of Love") discussed sexual intercourse.[4]

The Windows version shares 19 songs in common with Konamix and adds another 21 Konami Originals.

Songs are organized into groups of genres, one of which must be chosen to play the songs within. Some songs are part of multiple groups. An option to switch off the genres allows access to all the songs in the game at the same time, but in a format similar to the previous release.
