History

Establishment

Abozar Rasht, Esteghlal Rasht and Pegah

Abozar Rasht fc was founded in 1975 and in 1983 their name changed to Esteghlal Rasht. In 2002 Esteghlal Rasht was relegated from the Persian Gulf Pro League and Pegah Dairy Company bought the club and renamed it Pegah Football Club. The club was promoted back to the Persian Gulf Pro League in 2003, but were relegated in 2005. Pegah was promoted once more in 2007 before being bought by Damash.

Damash Guilan

In October 2008 Arya Investment Company owned by Amir Mansour Arya bought Pegah Guilan sports activities due to financial problems and Damash Iranian chairman Amir Abedini took over their license.

Pro and Azadegan League

After poor result at the beginning of the 2008–09 Iran Pro League season Hossein Abdi and Stanko Poklepović were replaced with Bijan Zolfagharnasab, but that did not help neither and Damash was relegated to Azadegan League and The club lost many key players to Pro league teams including Afshin Chavoshi, Mohammad Reza Mahdavi, Adriano Alves.

for 2009–10 season Amir Abedini hired Firouz Karimi who was banned to work in Pro league for one season and brought many players that were working with him in the past to the club. In following season Damash made it to the promotion playoffs but they were eliminated in the playoff game against Sanat Naft and missed out on promotion.

For 2010–2011 season damash signed with former key players Afshin Chavoshi & Mohammadreza Mahdavi and also a Slovenian coach Marijan Pušnik but after only 4 weeks and getting poor result with team he was replaced by his assistant and former Pegah Guilan captain Afshin Nazemi. Despite getting good result with team Nazemi once again was replaced by Mehdi Dinvarzadeh. On April 22, 2011 Damash was able to secure its promotion to IPL two weeks before end of the season with Mehdi Dinvarzadeh.

In their first year after promotion, Damash did well, placing 7th in the league. In their second year, Damash struggled at times, failing to make an impact and finished a quiet 11th place. Damash had a disappointing 2013–2014 season, finishing second last, and were relegated to the Azadegan League for the second time in the clubs history.

Jahanbaksh played for Damash

In March 2016, Damash announced that it had stopped all of its activities in the Azadegan League and had transferred the rights of the team to the Guilan Football Organization. The team was promptly renamed Shahre Baran Football Club and was allowed to continue competing in the Azadegan League.

Shahre Baran was relegated to the 2nd Division in 2016 after a poor season in the Azadegan League.

El Gilano

The matches between Malavan Anzali, Damash and Sepidrood F.C. are known as The Derby Of Gilan or El Gilano. This derby is one of Iran's most important and heated derbies. Malavan holds the record for most wins in the derby with 4 over Damash since the start of the Iran Pro League in 2001. Malavan also holds the largest margin of victory as they defeated Damash 3–0 in 2005 and 2013. The derby has a long history of fan violence and fans of Malavan, Damash and Sepidrood have engaged in fights and damaged the stadiums on several occasions. All three teams have been fined by the Iranian FA due to violent behaviour displayed by their fans.
