Damarla Chennapa Nayakadu

Damarla Chennapa Naicker was a Telugu ruler of  Srikalahasti and Vandavasi who served as a Commander-in-Chief under Venkatapati Raya of Vijayanagara Empire.[1][2] The city of Chennai is named after him.[3][4] The line of Nayaks were chieftains during the Vijayanagar empire and attained full power after its decline thereby becoming Nayaks of Kalahasti.
