Daejeon Subway Line 1 is a subway line in Daejeon, South Korea. Its line color is ● green. It is 22.6 km (14.0 mi) long with 22 stations. It is the first of five planned lines for the Daejeon Metropolitan Subway.[1]
The first section was opened on March 16, 2006, the second on April 17, 2007. The track leads from Banseok Station in Yuseong-gu to Panam Station in Dong-gu. The construction of Line 2 was planned to begin in 2008, but was delayed because government funding has been diverted to other projects.[2]
There have been plans to build Line 2 as a magnetic levitation train similar to the German M-Bahn or the Japanese HSST.[3] The current technical design, however, is not open to the public.[2]
The second line is set to have route finalization completed in 2015 and to have a test portion of the line opened by 2018. A full system will be operational 2021 or later. The train will be on ground level as well as elevated. [4]
