DYRU (currently branded as Barangay 92.9 Super Radyo) is a news and music FM radio station owned by RGMA, a subsidiary of GMA Network Inc. The station’s studio and transmitter is located at Torres-Oliva Bldg. Roxas Ave. Ext. Andagao, Kalibo, Aklan.
History
- DYRU was inaugurated on March 8, 1997 with no less than Mike Enriquez, GMA Vice President for Radio, RGMA President and current 24 Oras anchor, together with Butch V. Gonzales and Susan P. Alino, RGMA VPs for FM and AM Operations respectively, in attendance. Also gracing the occasion was then RGMA Iloilo manager Eddie Laczi. Local political leaders came in numbers. aklan’s media, business and civic leaders were also present. On March 10, 1997, which was a Monday, the programs Ieitsahan, RGMA Network News noon and evening editions, Pasipeat and Parke de Libertad were officially launched. named as station manager was Butz J. Maquinto. Chief tech was and still is Tong Balairos. it was only much later that Dindin Estrella (now Camus) was designated as senior program director and Lyneth Mendoza as program director for news and public affairs. the other pioneering employees were Leeda Villanueva, who was admin assistant, Mafie Jorque (now Matorre), Jay Teofilo, Jay Tejada-who was later designated as news director, Winston Sayon, John Peter Madula, Ronel Barrida, Fred Pintor and Joey Alonzo. among the originals only Maquinto, Balairos, Mendoza, Barrida and Pintor are still with RGMA Kalibo.
- On February 17, 2014, Super Radyo (including other RGMA Stations) rebranded as Barangay 92.9 Super Radyo. This station was reformatted from a news & public affairs station into a Hot AC station to pave way for station's reformat; along with other FM stations.
