Delhi University Students' Union
The Delhi University Students Union, generally abbreviated as DUSU, is the umbrella Students' union at the University of Delhi.
DUSU is the representative body of students from most Delhi University Colleges . Each college also has its own Students' union to which elections are held every year. Several of the office bearers of DUSU have gone on to hold public office at the State and Centre level.
DUSU elections have allowed some members to step directly into local and national politics. Arun Jaitley, current finance minister, was a member of DUSU.[1] The University of Delhi has a long history of student political activity. Since 1954 in DUSU , there are caste based politics taking place[2] especially by ABVP and NSUI which field mostly Jat/Gurjar candidates for important posts in DUSU.[3][4][5]

Caste politics has always been a major factor in DUSU polls, right since it was first held in 1954. On most occasions, the candidates fielded by arch-rivals ABVP and NSUI have been from the Gurjar or Jat and Yadav.
