D'Arcy Carden (neé Darcy Erokan, born January 4, 1980) is an American actress and comedian who currently co-stars as Janet on the NBC sitcom The Good Place.
Early life
D'Arcy Erokan was born in Danville, California.[3][4] Her father Dennis Erokan acted in local community theater and co-founded a music magazine called BAM.[3][4][5] She has two sisters and one brother.[5] In 1998 she graduated from San Ramon Valley High School. Erokan then attended Southern Oregon University where she majored in theater.[3]
Career
After graduating from college, she moved to New York City. While in New York, she became a regular performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre (UCB), performing improvisational sketch comedy.[3] She started with UCB in 2004 and later toured with the UCB Touring company.[6] By 2010 she was using the name Carden professionally when she was a cast member for The Ride, an interactive show performed on New York City tour buses.[7]
Carden had a recurring role on the Comedy Central series Broad City.[8] Carden has also appeared on Inside Amy Schumer and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.[3] She was also in the movie Other People, which starred Molly Shannon.
In 2016, she was cast as Janet in the NBC comedy The Good Place.[8] The show stars Kristen Bell and Ted Danson.[3] Carden plays Janet, a Siri-like concierge.[9]
Personal life
Erokan married producer Jason Carden.[10] As of 2016 the couple lives in Los Angeles, California.[10]
