D&I Railroad
The Dakota and Iowa Railroad (DAIR) is a wholly owned subsidiary of L.G. Everist Inc. The line hauls ethanol, cement, and sioux quartzite, which is mined from two large quarries in Dell Rapids. The D&I has a trackage agreement with BNSF to allow it to travel to deliver and sell products. The D&I operates on former Milwaukee Road tracks, which where handed over to the state of South Dakota in 1980 after the Milwaukee embargo.[1][2][3][4][5]
