Curtis "Curt" McKenzie (born February 9, 1969) was born in Corvallis, Oregon. He was a Republican member of the Idaho Senate from 2012–2016 representing the 13th District and previously District 12 of the Idaho Senate from 2002–2012. McKenzie and his wife, Renee, have two children.
Education
Curt McKenzie attended Northwest Nazarene University and received his Bachelor of Arts with a double major of Physics and History in 1992. He also attended Georgetown University Law Center on the Paul Connolly Memorial Full-Tuition Scholarship and received his Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude and Order of the Coif in 1995.[1] While at NNU, he was a member of the varsity soccer team (Academic All-American 2 years) and track team, and he served as Chief Justice of the Student Judicial Council. [2]At Georgetown Law he was an editor of The Tax Lawyer and was selected to one of the traveling trial teams.[2]
Career
After law school, he was admitted to the bars of the State of Maryland (1995) and Washington, D.C. (1996) He joined the Washington, D.C. office of Arter & Hadden, with a focus on civil appellate and intellectual property law. In 1997, McKenzie returned to Idaho and was admitted to the bar of the State of Idaho. He worked as a trial attorney in the Ada County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office before joining the law firm of Stoel Rives, LLP with a civil litigation practice. [2]
McKenzie owns the law firm McKenzie Law Offices, PLLC, located in Boise, Idaho since 2006. [3]

Elections
McKenzie did not seek re-election to the Idaho State Senate in 2016. Instead, McKenzie ran for a seat on the Idaho Supreme Court in 2016.[4] He was one of the top two finishers during the May 17 election receiving 41,348 of the votes (27.7%).[5] He advanced to a November 8 runoff against attorney Robyn Brody. McKenzie was defeated, earning 256,719 of the vote (46.2%).[6]
