Currency museum (simply known as Money museum) is one currency museums in Sri Lanka. It is located in Colombo Fort at the head office of Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

The museum has a collection of ancient usage of coins, dating back from about 3 BC, to modern usage coins & notes in Sri Lanka. Anuradhapura era (3 BC to 107 AD), Polonnaruwa to Kotte Kingdoms era (1017 AD - 1597 AD) and colonial era coins can be seen at the museum. Also, it has foreign coins and notes.[1]

Opening hours

There are no entrance fees to visitors and it opens from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm including Monday to Saturday on all working days except public and bank holidays.

Museums

National Savings Bank, Bank of Ceylon, People's Bank and Hatton National Bank also have their small museums in Colombo.[2] However, the currency museum of Central Bank of Sri Lanka exhibits more information.
