Crystallia Riga (Greek: Κρυσταλλία Ρήγα; born 18 February 1987), better known as simply Crystallia (sometimes spelt Krystallia), is a Greek singer, musician, songwriter and composer.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Early life

Crystallia was born and raised in Piraeus, Greece. She studied French literature and fashion design, and plays both classical piano and bass guitar. From an early age she was a member of a variety of bands.

Career

Crystillia began her professional career in 2006 when she appeared alongside Marinella and Antonis Remos. She also worked with well-known pianist and conductor Andrew Boutsikaki to develop her artistic repertoire.

From 2009 to 2012, she was a member of OtherView, a band that released one album and three digital singles. The group played with popular artists such as Yannis Ploutarchos and made appearances at well-known places, including Cosmostage. In the summer of 2011 and 2012, the group went on tour, generating a positive response from audiences and their video for the song, I'm the One was awarded the prize for best video of 2012. In the fall of 2012, Crystallia left OtherView to pursue a solo career.[7]

In 2013, she performed with Onirama in Gotham City,[8] and released her first solo single, titled Kimolia.[9] In the spring of 2013 she was a contestant on the first series of Greek television program "Your Face Sounds Familiar" on channel ANT1. She received positive reviews for her appearances and performances and finished in third place.[10][11]

On the 28 February 2014, it was announced that Crystallia was going to participate in "Eurosong 2014 - a MAD show", a competition to select the Greek entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014.[12] On 4 March, it was revealed that her song would be Petalouda Stin Athina (Butterfly in Athens) [13] which she performed live along with the three other candidate songs on 5 March 2014.[14]
