Good News Publishers is a not-for-profit evangelical Christian ministry that publishes and distributes Christian books and gospel tracts. The publishers was first founded by Clyde and Muriel Dennis in 1938[1] and they begun their Good News Publishers working out of their spare bedroom in Minneapolis, MN.[2]
Good News Publishers is the parent company of Crossway Books, a publisher of evangelical Christian books. Good News Publishers and Crossway's headquarters are located in Wheaton, Illinois, 1300 Crescent Street.
Good News Publishers was first created for publishing tracts and small booklets for use in evangelistic work across the world, while Crossway concentrated on producing books by well-known authors.[3]
Good News Publishers and Crossway's best known publication is the English Standard Version of the Bible, originally issued in 2001. As of June 2011, the ESV ranked as the fifth best-selling Bible translation by the Christian Booksellers Association.[4]
Crossway Books
In 1979, Good News Publishers expanded their ministry by creating its own book publishing division - Crossway Books.
Under the new leadership of Dr. Lane Dennis, Clyde and Muriel's son, Crossway Books as a book division has been privileged to publish more than 1,500 different titles, including books by Francis A. Schaeffer, Martyn Lloyd-Jones, John Piper, John MacArthur, J. I. Packer, Chuck Colson, Frank Peretti, Max Lucado, Joni Eareckson Tada, and D. A. Carson.[5]
Tracts
Popular tracts distributed by Good News Publishers include "Steps to Peace With God" by Billy Graham and "3:16" by Max Lucado.[6] Martyn Lloyd-Jones, John Piper, John MacArthur, J. I. Packer, Chuck Colson, Frank Peretti, Max Lucado, Joni Eareckson Tada, and D. A. Carson.
You're Special, written by Ted Griffin and first published on September 1, 1982, is the all-time best-selling tract by Good News Publishers. The English tract has been translated into Russian and Spanish.[7]
