Crooked Media is an American media company founded by three former top Barack Obama staffers. Their initial podcast, Pod Save America, is a left leaning "no-bullshit conversation about politics."[1]
Crooked Media is named after a favorite term of President Trump.[2] The site now hosts five different podcasts.[3] When asked he thought it was a “media company,” Mr. Favreau said, “I don’t know if it’s a political movement or a media company.”[4]
History
The hosts said their openly liberal podcast, originally called “Keepin’ It 1600” — couldn’t have lasted forever at "The Ringer Podcast Network", which covers everything from sports to tech. So they left Ringer to create a new podcast network called "Crooked Media". They hope "Crooked Media" will become a multimedia platform for political analysis and activism.[5][6]
Podcasts
Crooked Media maintains several podcasts:
- Pod Save America: is an American progressive political podcast, for people not yet ready to give up or go insane. It is co-hosted by Jon Favreau, Tommy Vietor, Jon Lovett, and Daniel Pfeiffer.[7][8][9][10]
- Pod Save the People: hosted by organizer & activist DeRay Mckesson,[11][12]the show talks about culture, social justice, and politics by exploring the history, language, and people who are shaping the struggle for progress — and talking about the steps that each of us can take to make a difference.[13]
- Pod Save the World: Tommy Vietor thought U.S. foreign policy was boring and complicated until he got the education of a lifetime working for President Obama’s National Security Council. His new show will bring you behind the scenes into White House Situation Room meetings and secret negotiations through a series of conversations with people who were there.[14]
- Lovett or Leave It: Jon Lovett fired up about the week’s headlines, Lovett who is President Obama’s witty former scriptwriter, invites a panel to dissect the news in a way he describes as “Very loose”.[15]
