Cornelis de Neve

John Tradescant the elder, portrait attributed both to Cornelis de Neve and to Emmanuel Decritz

Cornelis (also: Cornelius) de Neve or le Neve (born in Antwerp between 1602 and 1622, died in Antwerp around 1678), was a Flemish painter who was for a long period active in England as a portrait artist.[1] Dated works are known from 1627, leading historians to believe that his birth took place before 1610. He may have been a pupil of Anthony van Dyck.[1] He was related to the Flemish émigré family Decritz through the marriage of his stepmother with John de Critz. He was also a kinsman of Hester Tradescant.
