Strike is a 2017 BBC television series based on the detective novels written by J. K. Rowling.[2][3][4] The first episode premiered on the 10th August at the British Film Institute.[5]

Plot

Summary

Cormoran Strike, a war veteran turned private detective operating out of a tiny office in London's Denmark Street, is wounded both physically and psychologically. His unique insight and his background as a Special Investigation Branch Investigator prove crucial in solving three complex cases, which have eluded the police.

Production

On December 10, 2014, it was announced that the Cormoran Strike novel series, written by J. K. Rowling under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith would be adapted for television by the BBC, for broadcast on BBC One, beginning with The Cuckoo's Calling. Rowling will collaborate on the project, and it is believed she will contribute to the scripts. Two years later, it was confirmed that the series will total seven episodes of sixty minutes, with shooting to begin in London in the autumn of 2016. Additional scenes were filmed at Barrow in Furness in Cumbria and a petrol station in Leyburn, North Yorkshire.[6]

Ben Richards will adapt The Cuckoo's Calling and Tom Edge will adapt both The Silkworm and Career of Evil

In late 2016, it was announced that Tom Burke and Holliday Grainger would lead the cast as Cormoran Strike and Robin Ellacott, respectively. In early 2017, it was announced that Logan Kerr would play Robin's fiancé, Matthew.

Cast

Broadcast

The series was picked up by HBO for distribution in the United States and Canada.[7] The series will begin airing on the BBC on the 27th of August 2017.[8]
