Life and Career

Early Life

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Corey began singing in church at the age of five. Shortly after, he found himself singing solos and a vast amount of them. Intrigued by the emotional response his performances received, he found strong ties that would advance his desire to become a singer .

Corey relocated to Freeport, New York and Long Island had no idea what it was in for. Snippets of stardom began at Freeport High School. Singing in the school choir was to be expected but being chosen as the emissary to represent the school in the Nassau County Chorus was a humongous honor. Corey performed in numerous shows but was the 1st Place Winner consecutively in several high school talent shows. However, for this young superstar-to-be, nothing has been more exhilarating than winning NBC’s “Amateur Night: It’s Showtime at the Apollo” at The Legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York".

Following high school, his path led him to Five Towns College, where he received a Performing Arts Scholarship for Jazz/Commercial Music after auditioning. Corey studied music production and performance, piano, guitar, and voice, while receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management and Audio Recording Technology. Shortly after graduating, Corey was invited to tour with an Award winning singer/songwriter. These opportunities were great learning experiences and prepared him for the next level of his career.

2008-Present

As a songwriter, Corey Chorus landed his first publishing deal with Cherry Lane Music Publishing. Corey said while signing, “Its a great feeling when your peers believe in your music just as much as you do”.

Some of the industry’s elite which Corey has had the pleasure of working with include Brandy, Babyface, Kelly Rowland, Estelle, Demi Lovato, The HeavyWeights, Alex Da Kid, Jonas Jeberg, The Runners, J.R. Rotem, REO, DJ Snake, and P. Diddy to name a few. Corey notes, “My career has been a blessing thus far...A diamond encrusted struggle, yet a blessing”.

Working with the best gave Corey the creative confidence which prepared him for one of his biggest opportunities. In November 2008, Corey received a call to go in the studio and pen a record for a European Pop Legend....Ozone’s Dan Balan (creator of Dragostea Din Tei a/k/a “The Numa Numa song”, which T.I. and Rihanna’s “Live Your Life” samples. Corey’s ability to control the studio environment and serve a solid record, scored him a 5-song deal with Dan Balan for his upcoming European and American releases. Corey and Dan’s creative relationship has led to the release of “Chica Bomb”, “Freedom” (which Corey’s vocal is present singing the Chorus), “Justify Sex”, “Funny Love”, and “Hold On Love”

Break Through 2010

In August of 2009, Corey was invited to work in Los Angeles on a television project (Bad Girls Club) which was abruptly cancelled and left Corey to "Step out on a limb and see what happens". Within one week Corey and longtime collaborator Stacy Barthe, penned the 2010 MTN World Cup song “Everywhere You Go” which featured Internationally known Destiny’s Child member Kelly Rowland. 2011 was an exceptional year as Corey co-wrote Rihanna's Top Ten Billboard single "Drink to That (Cheers)" on her multi platinum LOUD album. This album earned Corey his first Grammy Nomination as LOUD was nominated for Album of The Year. It was an exciting session that changed his life forever, which then sparked a partnership with the world's best music publisher, Sony/ATV Music Publishing.

Shortly after, Corey penned "Demi Lovato's "Made in the USA". In the following years, he has played an executive role in developing artist's under his Corek Music imprint, all while penning songs for Inna "Body & The Sun", Akon “Hypnotized", and Boyz II Men “Don’t Stop".

“It”, is what he’s got--personality, persistence, presence and talent. In addition to his list of accolades, Corey is still creating his legacy. While presently in the studio with a host of talented artists, Corey finds a good balance integrating his textbook applications with the practical applications of recording. Dedicated and focused is hard to come by but Dedicated, focused, and talented...“priceless”.
