Commanders of the Lebanese Armed Forces
According to the Constitution, the President of the Lebanese Republic is the commander-in-chief of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF). The operational command is the responsibility of the Commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces.

- 9 October 1958 to 31 January 1959: Toufic Salem
- 1 February 1959 to 30 June 1965: Adel Shehab
- 1 July 1965 to 6 January 1970: Emile Boustany
- 7 January 1970 to 24 July 1971: Jean Njeim
- 25 July 1971 to 9 September 1975: Iskandar Ghanem
- 10 September 1975 to 27 March 1977: Hanna Saïd
- 28 March 1977 to 7 December 1982: Victor Khoury
- 8 December 1982 to 22 June 1984: Ibrahim Tannous
- 23 June 1984 to 13 October 1990: Michel Aoun
- 28 November 1989 to 23 November 1998: Émile Lahoud
- 21 December 1998 to 26 May 2008: Michel Suleiman
